Small errors, large consequences
Recruitment bodies publish lists of invalid applications and call candidates back for document verification because of avoidable form errors. Most of them can be prevented with a calm, structured routine.
Mistake 1: details that do not match certificates
The name, date of birth, parents' names and category in the form should match your certificates exactly. A single spelling difference can trigger a query at verification.
Mistake 2: wrong or outdated category certificate
Candidates often upload a certificate from the wrong financial year, in the wrong format or issued by the wrong authority. Read the notice for the format and year, and obtain a fresh certificate if needed.
Mistake 3: ignoring the cut-off date
Age, qualification and experience are calculated as on a date stated in the notice, not as on the day you apply. Calculate each against that date before you start.
Mistake 4: poor photograph or signature
Blurred, cropped, oversized or wrongly formatted images are rejected or flagged. Follow the size and format instructions and preview the upload.
Mistake 5: choosing posts without reading requirements
Some posts have physical, medical or typing requirements. If your preference list includes a post you cannot meet, a later rejection may be unavoidable.
Mistake 6: missing the correction window
Several bodies provide a correction period with a fee. Put the dates in your calendar on the day you apply, and check your form against the notice again.
Mistake 7: payment confusion
A failed or pending transaction can leave your application incomplete. Keep the receipt, check the payment status link and follow the body's refund or dispute process. Do not pay through any link outside the official portal.
Mistake 8: not saving proof
Download the final application PDF, payment receipt and acknowledgement. If a dispute arises, these documents help you prove what you submitted.
A calm routine
Read the notice twice, once for eligibility and once for process.
Fill the form in one sitting with documents beside you.
Review on the next day with fresh eyes if time allows.
Check your login for notices about invalid applications and call-backs.
A pre-submission checklist you can print
Name, parents' names and date of birth match the matriculation certificate.
Category and reservation claims match valid certificates in the required format.
Age, qualification and experience checked against the cut-off dates.
Photograph and signature meet size, format and clarity requirements.
Post preferences checked against physical, medical and typing requirements.
Fee paid through the official link and receipt saved.
Final form saved as PDF, and correction dates added to the calendar.
If you find an error after submission
Open the notice and see whether a correction window exists. If it does, correct the entry within the dates and pay any correction charge. If it does not, contact the helpline listed in the notice and keep a record of your query. Do not submit a second application unless the notice permits it, because duplicate applications may be rejected.
